What is a NewsBrief?
More than just a calendar listing, Natural Awakenings publishes short news releases, called "NewsBriefs," each month as a service to the businesses and professionals in our community, as well as the readers who benefit from keeping current with developments that will help them lead a healthier, more earth-friendly lifestyle.**
Get the word out. Let everyone know.
• Opening a new office? • Moving?
• Recently become certified in a new therapy?
• Special event, expo or festival coming up?
• Receive a special award?
• Offering a new service or product line?
A Natural Awakenings NewsBrief may the vehicle you need to make the announcement. NewsBriefs work very well when placed with advertising in the magazine because the format allows businesses to reach the reader from another angle, in a non-promotional, announce-styled presentation. Natural Awakenings NewsBriefs are very effective in getting the word out!
Who can publish a NewsBrief?
Any local business, organization, group, non-profit, individual or other organization may submit a NewsBrief for consideration. We do not charge for NewsBrief publication, publication is based on available space** and we do prioritize selection (again, subject to space and previous publication of NewsBriefs) in the following order:
• Advertisers in the local Natural Awakenings Magazine(s) always get first preference.
• Natural Awakenings Network businesses and practitioners
• Local businesses who carry Natural Awakenings in their business
• Local businesses who are not advertisers and/or distribution locations
• All others
Note: Although we reserve the right to include a photo or logo, based on available space, NewsBrief submissions sent with a photo or logo are given preference over those without.
**Publication of Natural Awakenings NewsBriefs is solely at the discretion of Natural Awakenings' publishers and editors and subject to available space, guidelines and applicability to the theme of the magazine. We typically edit all submissions to fit our style, length and guidelines, without prior approval or review.
How to create your NewsBrief:
• Please write your NewsBrief in third person.
• Length: 150-200 words (send more rather than less so our editors have more to work with)
• Due the 12th of the month prior to publication.
• Don't sell...announce!
• Use our online submission form. If you have a press release already written, use the online submission form to provide an announcement to us and upload it as an attachment.
• Include a photo or logo as a separate file (the online submission form has a utility to upload images).
• Don't sell, just announce.*
*Note that NewsBriefs do more to "announce" than sell and will not necessarily take the place of a well-designed display advertisement to promote specific products and services. NewsBriefs work very well when supplementing advertising placed in the same issue...and we display the page number of your ad in the NewsBrief!
